"Patience, my dear Lee, was the key. Despite his talent for picking up jutsu after one look, Kakashi is a man who takes a very long time to accept and adjust to new things coming into his life," Gai explains, nodding his head as he speaks. His head jerks up suddenly and he flashes a toothy grin.
"I just outwaited his stubborness! Even though I am not in my youth, I am a master of this particular approach to love!" he shouts, laughing heartily as he pumps a fist in the air. Lee applauds, tears streaming down his face.

I think they are better off as friends but hell, have you ever though of Gai's stamina? That guy is unbreakable and well, so youthful and because of him Kakashi could never ever be as lazy as he is now. Gai is a great person, you know? So bright and full of life, he would scare Kakashi's demons away. And not only thanks to his green spandex.
Also, why everyone make fun of Kakashi, he is just a viction of love~ XD Tsunade is the worst, I assume that's because she has no lover right now.

We know who tops XD But that line also reminded me of song from Mulan and I love Mulan. Don't know how many times I've watched it, but many, lol.

and yes. friends makes much, MUCH more sense for these two. and even though my brain melted a bit while imagining the two of them together for this, I did think it was kind of a hilarious idea. XD
the making fun of Kakashi had to be in there because I think I have to torture him a certain amount to fill a quota or something, or else I melt violently into a puddle, which would not be fun.
AND MULAN. totally wasn't thinking of that movie when I wrote this, but I love that song AND movie. <3333 and Kakashi is lazy, therefore he gets to be the catcher and deal with it, lol.
