I hate people sometimes. That is extremely ridiculous. I hope that mother gets her baby back immediately.
Noah's mom was talking to us this weekend about how his sister couldn't stand working in an obstetricians office (she's a nurse) exactly because of all of the unnecessary invasive surgeries. Basically, doctors learn to give mothers c-sections in any slightly dangerous situation (i.e. the baby will/might be born feet first) even though it is more dangerous to both mother and baby because they can't get sued for doing "too much" for the baby/mother, but they could get sued for not performing a c-section if something bad happens.
Frustrating. Makes me just want to get a midwife or something.
Uhhhhh DUH. Midwives are the shit. Plus I have a friend who's going to be a midwife so I can hook you up. I'm going to have a home birth like a hippie.
Yeah, I wrote a research paper on midwives, not so much about the doctor vs midwife debate, but more about which types of women use midwives. That's interesting too...
Have you seen The Business of Being Born? If not you have to watch it immediately. SERIOUSLY.
Haha... I wish I had a midwife friend. My future brother in law is an OB/GYN, so my connections are significantly less cool. If I could handle blood, etc. though, I'd totally become a midwife. Or at least some sort of GYN person. I recently read a book about female fertility and I was absolutely floored by how much I didn't know. I wish we didn't spend all of our young lives learning to avoid knowing our bodies and to leave it all to someone else. It'd be nice to teach young women ( & old ones, too) otherwise.
Anyhow, call me a dirty hippie, but I'm using a divacup and charting my cycles. Word.
What was the deal with which women use midwives? Very curious. Also, I'll have to find the Business of Being Born and check it out.

Seriously if you're not irrational and uncooperative while you're giving birth then that's when they should probably evaluate your stability.
