CSA?

As long as I'm online, I am also trying to quickly look up links for organic food. And I am finding a number of farms that do CSA. It's a risk, a commitment, an interesting and potentially financially worthwhile choice. Part of that whole think global, act local idea.

Anyone know about CSA, use it, belong to any Community Supported Agriculture ( Read more... )

I'm on a waiting list to join one. We buy fresh produce from the farmer's market between May and November, but right now it's shut down for the winter. I sure do miss it.

yeah, me too. In CA we got spoiled because there were winter's farmers markets as well as the fantastic spring/summmer ones. You could get local organic produce year round. We have a few different CSA's we can join. I just don't know if it is in our budget right now. But I love the idea! Nice to know other folks are doing it. :)

oh hooray. so did you make a big chunk investment all at once, or pay installments monthly. how much actual produce did you get each week for your money? did you get to pick the items or was it just whatever they had? I'm really excited about the idea, but will prolly have to wait a while longer just due to lack of funds
