Even if she hadn't been qualified, just imagine if she had been involved in some way while he was homeschooled and all the opportunities that would have availed for interaction and addressing everything that was conveniently ignored. The only positive aspect of homeschooling was that should have put Ryan at home with Kirsten immediately after Suriak and we all wished, hoped and believed that meant we'd see them attempt to reconnect, watch Kirsten face up to the mistakes she'd made, see them struggle, and determine if Kirsten really did care about Ryan and value him- and more than her friendship with Julie. What wasted potential! Every time they have a scene together is a reminder of what could have been.
Yes, it was such a waste. It seemed the important stuff was ignored and all we got were characters no one cared for and story lines no one cared about.
WORD. What's so sad was how they teased us with concepts like homeschooling, which was such an awful choice for Ryan, but we never saw how it impacted him when he was already so alone, lost and alienated or even got the benefit of seeing him interact, even awkawrdly and painfully, with Kirsten. That would have been logical and obvious. Instead, the tutor was invisible (??!!) and there was no explanation for the complete lack of Kirsten/Ryan time AND, to top it off, we got "M" and the pub scum. Grrrrrrrr...
