Advent 100-word challenge, 12 & 13

Dec 18, 2008 10:16

I didn't really have time to write this morning, but perhaps I needed to.  It felt good!

Now whether it is good, is another matter.  *mutters*

I still don't own these characters.  Nope.

Two birds with one stone:  "Scrooge" and "Punch" = 200 words.  Spot on.  Now, back to what I ought to be doing.....and later I can go back and catch up on reading ( Read more... )

100, punch, one-shots, scrooge, advent challenge, oc

This resonates in so many ways that matter most. You've managed to capture and convey so many of the essential differences between Ryan and their Seth and their very disparate perspectives.

This is a reality check for Seth- and a sensitivity one too, very aptly. Imagine, actually putting personal thought into gifts with a value system that isn't only about the higher price tag. Even more, what about earning and saving the money and trying to make careful choices that involve consideration and sacrifice?

I love the idea of Seth learning lessons, maybe starting to use a filter, and being left speechless.

Very nice and realistic characterization throughout this exchange.

"Very nice and realistic characterization"

Wow. *bows* And all because 'Scrooge' struck me as exactly how Seth would characterize Ryan's preference for quality and thoughtulness over excess....

At this point, working as many prompts as plausible into each story is essential. Realistically, I won't be addressing all of these, but it's fun to take a stab at 'ketchup' when the muse whispers.

Thoughtfulness would definitely rate highest with Ryan. He certainly wouldn't be used to excess in any positive sense of the word or type of experience. In terms of gifts, whatever the mode or form, the same would apply. He'd be much more likely to have the lowest of expectations and treasure whatever morsel would be tossed his way. All of that would shape his own perspective, priorities, and value system. Instead of excess in price and volume, he'd focus on the personal touch.

And I'm still on the ketchup trail with your chapter fic. Of course, taking a stab after 2:15 a.m. isn't the way to go!

Except, your Seth makes ME want to throw a punch!

Hey---did you get dumped on by that snow?

*laughs a mental picture of chic going rage-blackout on Seth*

No, though apparently you are/ were about to. Somewhere you posted about a bad enough forecast the weather cancellation happened before the weather, yes?

Our heaviest snow lately was Tues.- 2 hour delay for the schools. It was probably worse in Flagstaff and east of here- higher elevations. Today it's sunny, mild, and melting. A good day for a husky to travel home....

Especially as I caught something on weather channel about the gulf stream bringing something this way soon.

This was kinda sad, especially: "This is the best I could do from my savings and allowance."
But it's so Ryan, to buy something personal to each of them than something expensive :)
