Hmm... two points very very well made. Then I wonder if the fact that I'm such a hag actually hindered my enjoyment of the movie. How extremely odd.
his presentation of the relationships were too consistent for it to not be intentional. V. good point, that. I guess it goes down to interpretation and your personal expectations going into the movie. I just expected an emotional breakdown as I did with the short story and it never came, so I felt a bit... cheated isn't the right word, but you get my drift.
I'm not really sure how to respond to your BBM thoughts - as Zoe says, I don't disagree with any particular point (sir). I did love it, but then again I'm not as critical of a viewer as I'd like to be.
Lindsay/Brian was adorable at the beginning, but I got turned off it, after a while. Brian/Justin, however, remains... pretty much my OTP to end all OTPs. Seriously. As far as canon relationships go, that was the only to ever truly make me believe in it whole heartedly. I won't say anymore to avoid spoiling you, but yeah. You will become more than a little bit in love, I promise :)

Ooh, it does sound v. good. I have like five seasons to catch up, and I too have no doubt I'll completely fall for this 'ship. It's quite nice taking my time! :) Plus, I only have the first season right now...
It's very shallow of me, but every time a reviewer sums up BBM as a movie about gay cowboys, I see another pairing entirely. *g* It's not so much "shallow" as "incredibly obstinate". ;D
It makes me wonder if that wasn't at least part of what Lee was aiming for - the idea that nothing comes without a price. I didn't think it was intended at first, but reading over the other comments, people seem to think so, so it probably was. Damn, I think I shouldn't have read the short story first; the themes I chewed on felt different to the film themes.
I really worry that I will not like BBM as much as I hope I will. It makes me sad. :(
Anyway. I'm really liking Lindsay/Brian, too, to be honest. There's this one lovely picture (from season 1 even?) where they're standing in her room, in front of a mirror, and look like the perfect couple. Wouldn't want to spoil you with the details, but it's very cute. And you've finally come to your senses and like B/J! Yay! I admit Justin is quite annoying in season 1, but they're so lovely.
I can't believe that you remember that. See, your goldfish memory isn't that bad! :D
Yes, I probably did know it was going to happen. Almost everyone falls for them in the end. Oh, I can't wait until you see all the important B/J episodes! I must send you the other seasons soon.
I've actually never seen the resemblance, but now that you mention it I definitely do! How could I have missed that?? *feels like a bad R/J shipper*
I bought it on a whim from Amazon before I really knew anything about Gackt or Hyde. I had just discovered that first album by Gackt (first for me, that is; his newest) when I did. I thought I'd give it a try for the money. It only cost me thirteen bucks. Good price for a DVD.
I'd be careful about recommending it. I have my own complaints, but overall I feel it's very much worth it.

The Dr. Who thing is really cute.

Hey! You know that was always gonna happen. I was just waiting to see how long it took.
(And am I crazy, but do they remind you a tiny bit of Josh and Ryder?)

I don't have any cowboy icons, so here's to two other "involved" men. ;-)
