I love her in purple.

Random question, in playing around with Joan's costuming through the seasons did you ever come across a season outfit Thing like this for Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones? I'm having a bitch of a time trying to find one. I am not as cool as you and can't make one, lol.

Apparently purple is Joan's "emotionally vulnerable colour"! I'm gonna keep watching with that in mind.

Sorry, I've just been rewatching MM and screencapping, so I haven't been looking around online really.

Really? I've never heard of purple used that way, but it makes sense.

Darn, I thought y of might have random saw it when looking for Joan stuff. I've been rummaging through screencaps.

Has this process given you ideas for your own work wardrobe? If so, how do you translate it to 2012 fashion? One thing that jumps out at me is how flattering a high waist can be, at least if it's fitted and the right fabric; maybe a stiffer fabric is better? It seems like high-waisted pencil skirts are fashionable enough to be pretty easy to come by. A few years ago I couldn't find anything high-waisted, which drove me nuts.

Edited to add: I stopped watching Mad Men after season 3, but I definitely loved the costuming on the show. I'm really excited to see your next sets so I can see what they did later on!

Oh totally! My work wardrobe has really changed over the last few years and lots of it comes from Joan ideas. :D I think the key is to really hunt for good quality staples, but of course as you mentioned that's subject to what the high street is selling. Still, pussy bow blouses were very in a couple of seasons ago, so they were easy to find ( ... )

Ooh, I see what you're saying about high waists and completely agree. I hadn't ever quite figured out what made some high waists so flattering and others not, but I think you hit the nail on the head. (Perhaps this is common knowledge among fashionistas but it's new and exciting to me!) I've had two high waisted -- and by that I mean just above the natural waist, not empire -- that flattered me and one had pleating and the other had gathering. They were both A-line but my figure is not remotely as curvy as Joan's so it worked OK for me.

I love scarves in principle, but in reality they tend to spend all their time on the back of my rocking chair. Living in Seattle, which is very casual, and working in an even more casual environment (my officemate wears her running clothes to work) makes it hard for me to feel comfortable wearing decorative scarves, even though I find them quite pretty.
