This is embarrassing, but I read "Burn a Koran" as "Burn a Korean" when I just glanced at this post, and I was panicking for a different reason. But then I read it again and now I feel kind of stupid. :(

But, I agree with this response. "Burn a Koran" is such a stupid and racist response to a tragic day like September 11th. And I'm against the idea of burning any text for so many reasons, especially when it involves something with religious and/or cultural context and value.

Don't feel stupid. I read a lot of comments saying the same thing on the "Don't Burn A Koran Day" event on Facebook. It's the spelling. That mistake is never made with Qur'an.

It is disgusting. And I'm sick of people saying "We should even care." I DO care when some is so hateful.

Great video. The whole "Burn a Koran" thing is just.. augh. Have people like... not studied history at all or something? Book burning of any kind = TERRIBLE IDEA. Burning a book singling out a whole race/religion of people as something to be feared/hated = THE WORST.

I'm reading "Looking for Alaska" right now, but I feel like I should read something smarter than that for this cause so maybe I'll start up a "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn".

Doesn't like, every dystopian novel have some level of book burning or restrictions on reading? So yeah, not a good idea.

Enjoy your reading!

I remember way back when this idea (burn a koran, not read a book,) was first promoted, and it inspired a gut-deep wave of revulsion in me. Burning a book, especially the book of a religion, their teaching and culture...it's horrible.
