Is there anyone who actually supports this bullshit? I'm reading through the comments on the news post and pretty much everyone is saying DO NOT WANT! It's stupid and completely disregards user privacy. I keep Facebook and LiveJournal VERY separate, and I want to keep it that way ( Read more... )

Based on my friendslist, no, there is not a single person who thinks this is a good idea.

Same deal on my flist. Not to mention this 5000+ comments on the news entry screaming DNW: http://news.livejournal.com/129190.html

I don't want my recent "Coming out of the closet" entry all over Facebook. I don't need my aunt trying to sneak me into heaven or something like that.

Your Gaga icon says it all.

As do the 5,000 + DNW comments.

The only thing I'm bothered by is the idea that our entries can be seen outside of this site because somebody's going to want to cross-post their comments to Facebook or Twitter. Like, cross-posting your own entries is cool, but dude, no, plz to be not advertising my personal life and what you think about it.

That's my main problem with it, too. I don't have a problem with someone posting their own entries on Twitter and Facebook, but cross-posting comments to someone else's journal, even f-locked entries? There's so much wrong there.

There is, and I can completely understand why you wouldn't want your posts concerning your sexual assault passed around anyone else's FB or Twitter. There's some personal/filtered events/thoughts I've posted I'd never want anyone else to see. Who really thought this was a good idea, or that people would be completely comfortable?

Hopefully LJ will wise up and change this, or at least give us some power on how people comment on our journals.

Funny you should ask. Apparently, the folks at LJ aren't even comfortable with it. LJ's response:

Update: Thank you for taking the time to offer your honest feedback. We understand and appreciate your desire for privacy. We share your concerns. Most of us would not want to publish our LiveJournal usernames or FO comments to Facebook or Twitter either (to the extent we even use them). Please give us a little time to address your concerns. We are listening, and we'll do our best to respond.
