This is very touching and heartbreaking. His musings on language are very compelling.

Thank you! This entire series of Sherlock has just got me writing like my fingers are on fire. I've got another three running simultaneously and I want them out by Sunday if it's the last thing I do. I'm officially losing my mind, so it's good that they're not too bad. :) xxx

This is lovely. I love how the concept of the mind meld took root with Sherlock here- in fact, I love it all.

(And I know where you're coming from. Sherlock is not a fic-writing fandom for me, but when the bug bites it bites hard. I've started writing a new fic in the middle of one I'd been working on many times. Sometimes, I'll start writing a new one in the middle of that one.)

Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it! *hugs* I appreciate you taking the time to tell me! I always thought Sherlock would be really ticked off at the inefficiency of language. We've got more than enough comparisons to Spock anyway, so. :)

I swear, this fic thing is ruining my life. I've got so many things to do and not enough time to do them in and it's just - UGH. so many feelings, all over the place. *shakes head* xxx

"Sherlock has never met anyone he wants to be kind to, except John. And while he doesn’t think John finds him particularly kind, he hasn’t seen him before. He doesn’t have any basis for comparison, because when John is around, Sherlock is different. It is Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, where a particle cannot be truly observed in its natural state, because to observe it is to alter its behaviour. Sherlock is a particle and John is the light, and to be seen, light must be shone on Sherlock, and in the light of the day, Sherlock is not the same as he was when he was left unseen, and unnoticed."

I had to quote that whole paragraph, just as an example of how moving this whole piece was. On one level it might be called "sad", but on a deeper level it's pure love.

Beautiful.

*hugs* thank you! It really did occur to me that John changes Sherlock, he makes Sherlock want to be better, and it just hit me. I'm glad that I've managed to make physics beautiful, at least once. Thank you for letting me know! I'm glad you liked it! xxx LM
