I really liked this piece. The gossipy ladies are a lot of fun, and it makes a nice introduction to the fandom. Very clever use of original characters.

Thank you! I'm thinking they might need to make a reappearance as they were too much fun to write. Ah, but poor Ray and Florian can't go anywhere without being the subject of gossip.

Excellent piece, a lot of times a piece that is just dialogue will fall flat, but this certainly wasn't the case. A very good job capturing the era of ballroom gossip starting with the invitation because back then it was the height of importance to have that invite. The snobbery about 'America' was a nice touch and the scandelous tone of it all was just perfect. Though that final line was divine and truly proves they're unrepentant gossips, I love them.

Thank you! The invitation line was what started the whole thing and it really helped get the voices in my head. These ladies might have to make another appearance - they're too much fun to write. They'd run right over Florian, but Ray would probably give them a challenge.

This is really, really nice. The dialogue flows like conversation should, and I felt that the story emerged naturally--it isn't awkward or stilted at all. And I loved the oh-so-subtle gawking at the end. *g* It really cemented the ladies' characters for me.
