tres interessant!

I don't have anything helpful to tell ya -'cept to say that the only "ultimate solution" that I pursued ,,,, worked out spectacularly well for me - n is the source of my continuing sense of deep-rooted well-being - even given my embedded grief now - so, at least from this one episode [of my life] - I'll tell you - that for some of us [the lucky ones!] - your ultimate solution hypothesis is valid - tho' small sample bias is, of 'cos, present!

I'm wondering if the whole idea of an 'ultimate solution' coincides with the mantra of "finding one special thing in the world and holding on to it" that is echoed throughout so many movies and films.

Haha, I laughed at your 'small sample bais' :)

I think to attach any kind of ultimate solution to any achievement is a bit...unrealistic. If I achieve A, I'll be happy. If I meet B, I'll be happy.

Its a dangerous thing when you start attaching happiness to things, people and goals. What if those things don't come around? What if those people disappear? What if for some reason, whatever it may be, those goals aren't attained? Then your unhappy? Thats a pretty difficult situation to be in.

Of course, people, things and goals make us happy. But we also have to go inward at times, to make us happy as well. What makes you happy? What do you think you could do, to get to that goal?

Maybe this isn't the best advice, but my mom has told me this all my life, "The only person in life that'll make you happy Dani, is you". To put SUCH pressure on a situation, person or goal, is almost ridiculous. To put it in perspective and thinking about it helps.

Ahhh, didn't mean to go off on a tangent.

I'm glad you went off on a tangent, and I agree with you wholeheartedly as over the past few days I've been contemplating what happens if something doesn't work out. I guess it is cliche, but in the end the advice given by your mom is true.

an ultimate solution to all life's problems? like a cure-all for your soul? wow, it would be interesting if such a thing existed, but I'm not sure how great it would be ( ... )

Thanks for the comment, I truly appreciate it!

..And though I hate to admit it, I think deep down inside you're right about the idea of placing a 'girl-savor on a pedestal' but for some strange reason i still believe in the movies :\

yeah, well, like I said, most of what I wrote was uber hypocritical. I mean I believe what I wrote in my head, but in my heart I'm a hopeless romantic who still believes there's someone out there that's going to save me. I think everyone wants the fairy tale happy ending to their story. :)

Why would you want an ultimate solution?
Life is only fun because you wait to see what happens. D:
