Last bit of spam from me for the day, I promise! (Unless you're also a member of my other SW icontest community in which case ... yeah, sorry. XD) It's time for this week's theme, which I must admit I am pretty excited about. :)
~ THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE ~
Thought we'd do something just a bit different for the challenge this week - similar to the lyrical challenges we have once a month, but this time, using quotations. Our totally awesome affiliate,
the Obidala Sanctuary, has lists of quotes relating to the couple, from both movies and novelizations. Those appear under the first LJ cut. Under the second cut are the screencaptures corresponding to the quotations.
Your job? Simply to choose a quote and match it with the screencap of your choice. Doesn't even have to be the screencap that corresponds to the quote, just so long as your icon includes both an Obidala scene and a quote. Now, I realize that many of these quotes are long, and that in fact you'd need a full sized banner to accommodate them! That's okay - partial quotes are also perfectly acceptable, as are single words or one or two words from the quote. The only stipulation is that your icon(s) must include text, and that text must come from the quotations provided below. What text you include, and how much of that text you feature on your icon, is totally up to you. I know this may be unclear, so please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.
Attack of the Clones Novelization by R.A. Salvatore
"It's a great pleasure to see you again, M'Lady," Obi-Wan said, moving to stand before the beautiful young Senator.
Padmé took Obi-Wan's hand in her own. "It has been far too long, Master Kenobi. I'm so glad our paths have crossed again ..."
"You'll be back here in no time," Obi-Wan assured her.
"I will be most grateful for your speed, Master Jedi."
She couldn't dismiss the pangs of guilt that she was out here playing without purpose while others worked hard to carry on the fight against the Military Creation Act, or while Obi-Wan Kenobi scoured the galaxy in search of those who would see her dead.
"They can't get from Coruscant in time to save him!" Padmé reiterated, her voice rising.
...
If they stayed here and did nothing, Padmé believed she would lose two friends: Obi-Wan to the Geonosians, and Anakin, to his guilt.
Both [Obi-Wan] and Anakin winced as Padmé was similarly, roughly dragged over to the post next to Anakin, and roughly chained up.
"Hold on!" Obi-Wan cried, grabbing the edge of the open drop door.
"Can't think of a better choice!" Padmé yelled back at him.
Obi-Wan turned a smirk her way ...
Revenge of the Sith novelization by Matthew Stover
"Padmé," he said softly. Gently. Almost regretfully. "I will not tell the Council of this. Any of it. I'm very sorry to burden you with this, and I - I hope I haven't upset you too much. We have all been friends for so long ... and I hope we always will be."
"Thank you, Obi-Wan," she said faintly.
"One Jedi then," Padmé offered to the others. At least let me speak the truth to my love. At least. Please, she pleaded with them silently. "There is one Jedi - one whom I know all of us can trust absolutely ..."
Her voice trailed off into appalled silence when she realized she wasn't talking about Anakin.
This had been all about him when she'd started - all about her love, her need to be open with him, the pain that keeping this secret stabbed her heart at each and every beat - but when the thought had turned to trust, when it became a question of someone she truly and absolutely knew she could trust -
She discovered that she was talking about Obi-Wan.
He felt as if he'd never seen it before.
How could she do this to him?
Sometimes the closest are those who cannot see.
How could she?
How could he?
In the Force, the whole apartment stank of Obi-Wan.
His finger traced the curving back of her couch.
Here. Obi-Wan had sat here.
Anakin rounded the couch and settled into that same spot. His hand fell naturally on the seat beside him ... and there he felt an echo of Padmé.
The dragon whispered, That's a little close for casual conversation.
Senator Amidala certainly didn't seem inclined to treat Master Kenobi as a dangerous outlaw ...
Quite on the contrary, in fact: she seemed to have fallen into his arms, and her voice was thoroughly choked with emotion as she expressed a possibly inappropriate level of joy at finding the Jedi still alive.
"Padmé, move away." There was an urgency in Obi-Wan's voice that sounded closer to fear than Padmé had ever heard from him.
Revenge of the Sith
"Anakin, do you think Obi-Wan might be able to help us?" (Padmé)
"Have you told him anything?" (Anakin)
"There are rumours in the Senate about Master Kenobi. Many believe he is not fit for this assignment. ... They say his mind has become fogged by the influence of a certain female Senator." (Palpatine)
"Save your energy." (Obi-Wan)
"I can't ..." (Padmé)
"Don't give up, Padmé. Don't give up." (Obi-Wan)
"Obi-Wan's been here, hasn't he?" (Anakin)
"He came by this morning." (Padmé)
