He can walk!

Wow, so I'm not very good at updating this journal very often, am I? In any case, I wrote a short, angsty D/G fic It Should Have Been Me last week, and I am strangely proud of it. One, because it's a complete departure from my normal writing style, and two, because I am normally utter rubbish at angst. It was fun, and as rainpuddle13 pointed out, it's ( Read more... )

Awwah, he's a total sweetpea! He's got the prettiest eyes!!!

Ladysmith is very lovely and a very nice place to live. I am not sure how far south the metro lines go!

UR is insanely expensive (all those damn yankees are willing to pay it though). You might want to think of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland or even VCU in Richmond or Mary Baldwin in Fredericksburg. I guess it depends on what your course of study is.

And if you need help with the coding - just let me know and I'll help you out. I've been around a while. :)

Thanks, Pud! I think he's the prettiest baby ever, but I'm biased. :) Speaking of babies, how's the cutest kitten to ever kitten doing?
The recs on schools are awesome; I'm a global affairs/ political science major, so if you know of any local schools with a great poly-sci, please let me know. An inside opinion is exactly what I need.
I apparently got the coding to work, but why doesn't it show during the preview? I had to log out and view the journal to see it. Strange.

:)

Dash is being naughty. He's biting too much so he's getting a hard lesson in what no means. He's starting to react to the sound of my voice so that is a good thing.

No, it doesn't show it working when you preview. As long as you know you've got the code right, you're okay.

Oh yes, the fond memories of kitten needle teeth reducing my hand to a sieve. *chuckles* Those baby teeth suck, don't they? The answer for my kitty when she was a gnawing midget was giving her a square of cardboard. Somehow, being able to actually bite through satisfied her urge to bite everything else, like my poor hands. BTW, that story about Dash leaving little stink presents on your father's friend killed me. I laughed so hard.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out tomorrow morning before the baby wakes up.

Your son is adorable! Good luck with all of the life decisions. That can be really tough, I know. (I have made some career sacrifices for my marriage, too.) But what I have come to realize is that things tend to work out in the end, even if they happen in a way I don't expect. So I hope that everything works out for you one way or another.

Oh, thank you so much! I figure the occasional baby spam is acceptable, so long as I don't bombard you with it all of the time. ;)

I think I just needed to get my worries off my chest, so to speak. I mean, I put college on hold for four years while I was in the military, and then I took internet-based courses so that I could stay home with the baby while Sean was deployed to Iraq.

I'm not unhappy with the choices I've made, but I so desperately want to finish my degree before I go back to working for the government. An A.A. (what I have now) versus a B.A. in the analysis field is worth about $10,000 a year more, and a whole lot of respect.

In the end, you're absolutely correct. However it works out, there's a path to follow. Thanks for the encouragement!

It would be great if you could finish your degree. Maybe one of the schools Pud knows will work for you. (I'm afraid I don't know much about Virginia myself.) Do you qualify for any financial aid through serving in the military? If not, there might be scholarships available that would could help out. Either way, I encourage you to contact a faculty member or two at any schools you are considering. They can tell you a little about their programs to help you decide, and then if you go there, you already know someone. Once again, good luck!

Pud's given me some great suggestions that I'll get started on checking out tomorrow, but yes- the Army has the Montgomery G.I. Bill that gives me $20,000 for schooling- though it's only allowed out in a $1,000 a month stipend. <-- Great at a community college, not so much at someplace like UVA. I'll find something, even if I have to go back to online for awhile.

Thanks for the great advice- I'll definitely contact a faculty member in the Political Science departments of the schools so I can get a feel for their programs.

Thank you! I'm pretty partial to him. *grins* He's growing up so fast, though. It seems like I brought him home from the hospital yesterday, and now he's learning to walk.
