Well, I had good timing for my market day, since this has been a pretty quiet Wednesday. The campaign's guests for Barack's Daily Show appearance tonight are Alyson West and Raina Moore, who have been best friends since they met at Spelman College in 1995. Says Alyson

See, this is what I hate about journalism today. If there's no conflict, they will create one, and by focusing on those conflicts, they force people to respond and it only validates this kind of thing as news. If the person doesn't respond, then the story becomes about how "they are silent on this matter." There's no winning with the sensationalism these networks thrive on. The 24 hour news cycle demands ever interesting news, and so if there isn't any, they just make it up.

I think the internet is really starting to take a bite out of their viewership, especially among young people, and what we're seeing here is the slow decline of the Old Media. They just can't control these little narratives the way they used to anymore, with eleventy billion bloggers and things like YouTube out there, but they don't understand what's happening, so they just keep flailing. CNN has really bet the farm on the whole inevitability/experience meme, even when probably 80% of the people on their own blog tell them they're full of shit every day. I've done it myself. It doesn't matter what tone you use, or as I discovered last night, whether you post actual quotes or not, they don't listen. I don't suppose their coverage will be even halfway reasonable until after the primaries. Or maybe November 08. Possibly January 09. So, it's internet, C-SPAN and fake news for me.
