Room 212: All Day

May 09, 2007 06:49

Marty is doing his best to be cheerful as he packs up the last of his belongings. Packing is a relative term as he seems to be dragging out the process as much as possible.

[ooc: Last hurrah for Marty. Feel free to drop by and wish him well. Or throw something at him. Wait for OCD.]

"Hey, Marty." Parker rapped her knuckles on the doorframe, then wandered into the room, a bottle of twenty-year-old scotch in one hand. "So this is it, hunh?"

"Yep. As in me leaving Fandom and going out into the real world," Marty said as he pulled out the bust of Principal Bristow's head. "But check out what Kawalsky got me? How awesome is this?"

Parker cracked up, having to lean against the wall with the giggling. "Oh, that is awesome. I know he'd be thrilled to know you're carrying his head around with you. Sort of like a surrealist 8-Ball. 'What should I do, Principal Bristow?' And then it glares at you."

Marty gave Bristow's bust a long look. "Considering he barely changed his facial expression this could be his head with just a rocky exterior."

"In which case, I am *not* gonna ask how Kawalsky got it. That way bad craziness lies." She handed over the bottle of scotch. "For those times when you're in the land of underage illegal drinking again, and really need it."

Marty snickered. "I just gave my last good bottle to Jaye. It's good to have a backup."

Chuckling, Parker said, "Okay, now I'm wondering who'll give me booze on my last day here." She shook her head, looking amused. "Are you going to be on the alumni network? I want to hear about your adventures at U of M."

"Adventures in Michigan? Compared to this place I have a feeling I'll be dying of boredom. How many incoming freshman at U of M have had their graduation ceremony invaded by aliens?" Marty joked. "But I'll be on the network. What about you Parker? What's your first step in world domination going to be?"

"Summer in different places in Europe, business for my dad, plus just fun. September in L.A. with Zero, bugging Angel and Logan when I have time. And then Oxford." She looked pleased and a little worried. "Which, granted, no aliens, but isn't exactly going to be a cakewalk. Languages and Economics, the better to suborn huge corporations. Angela said you got into U of M, but not which program?"

"I'm not sure which program," Marty said honestly. "It's not like I can go back to my old profession. I hear accounting can be a thrilling occupation."

Parker blinked at him. Then blinked again.

"Sorry. Just had a mental image of an attack accountant, and a few brain cells committed hari-kari at the image."

"You see? This is the issue every time I try to think of a major," Marty replied. "Veterinarian? Socialology? Computers? I don't know. At least here I fit in as an oddball."

"There's always private investigation, although I think Fandom High is churning out a really high number of those," Parker pointed out. "You'd be good at that. And it's not like there'd be Principal-Bristow-types looking over her shoulder." She smiled a little. "Hey, you and Marcella helped me out. You'd be good at it."

"Yeah, that has some possibilities to it," Marty admitted. "Though the idea of a guy with my background going into law enforcement? I don't know. It's a possiblity."

"You've got four years to figure it out, at least. And there's always grad school, if it's still murky." Parker grinned suddenly. "Professional student? That has a certain appeal."

"Or I may just chuck it all away and open a coffee shop," Marty replied. "It's not like I don't drink enough of the stuff."
