Now that I have gotton a chance to sleep and been to work (okay I'm still at work and shouldn't be writing this report, but oh well) and eaten. I guess it's time for a real report of the Buffy Panel.
Now
ghostgirl13 and I got the Premium Tickets cause after they announced Sarah was going to attend I knew ticket sales would be even worse than I had originally thought and we really didn't want to risk missing the panel. That and we like Chuck and I was interested in learning more about Pushing Daisies. The only panel that was included that we really didn't care about was the Judd Apatow panel. After tickets went on sale and we couldn't even get tickets for some friends we were very glad we went for the other tickets. So during the week we became friends with about six other premium ticket holders that were always there before us and were big Buffy fans as well as big Paley Fest fans. We shared front row with them for the other panels, excluding Judd cause we arrived late for that one. Since we hung out a bit and respected each others places in the line we decided to work together for the Buffy Panel. We decided this after some line cutters pushed their way through for the Chuck Panel. So we all agreed to arrive early for Buffy and line up all day to make sure we got front row. Like I said in my earlier post they were all awesome people and it was great fun hanging out with them all day plotting how we were going to stall the line cutters while others got into the theater to save the eight seats needed for all of us. As other people came to line up behind us we included them in our plans and forewarned them all about the line cutters behind them once they showed up. So everyone was working together to ensure the line was respected. It also helped that for once the Paley Fest and security worked the line correctly and only allowed eight people in at a time and made us all go to the one entrance so there was no running and jumping the line. I have to mention that there were a group of 3 people that had camped out the night before waiting for stand by tickets. They were very sweet and we were all hoping they got a ticket and thankfully they all did and made it inside. * whoohoo *
Once inside
ghostgirl13 and I got our usual seats in the front center section to the left. We were happy with the left cause after the first panel we noticed that the moderator sat to the left. Therefore the big names tended to be seated to the left. It worked last night as we had Joss, Sarah, Nick, James and Emma almost right in front of us. Very cool. One of the people in line had told us that if you check the TV camera they have a list of who is going to attend and what seats they are in. So I checked that out once I noticed we were missing two seats. Being sleep deprived it took me awhile but I figured out with
ghostgirl13's help that Alyson and Eliza were not listed. They never gave a reason as too why they didn't attend. So who knows. Marti Noxon came on stage to introduce the clip because Joss was still on his way after filming his webisode? project. I think it's something that's going to be on the web. * shrugs * She talked about how she and Joss recently had snuck into a Once More With Feeling sing a long and were surprised to see the response to the musical. Once she said this I knew they were going to show the episode which kind of sucked. Just because the longer the clip lasts usually the shorter the Q&A. In line we were all hoping they would just do a quick montage of the show to give plenty of time for the panel. Not that we don't like the musical but hey, if you were at the Paley Fest you were a Buffy fan and had seen that episode, possibly many many times before. But then
ghostgirl13 mentioned to me that giant Spike on screen was definitely a good thing. I did have to agree with that. Luckily they kept the Q&A longer than 9pm so showing the full episode didn't shorten anything. :) I don't do transcripts well and I really really hope they release this on DVD, so I won't mention much on the panel itself besides wishing the right side of the stage hadn't been left twittling their thumbs for as long as they were due to a not so great moderator. Oh, and a funny moment when they went down the panel asking about current projects. James mentioned Dragon Ball and that was it. It was people in the audience that yelled out Smallville, Torchwood, his music etc. I can't remember if it was Emma or Michelle, but one of them laughed saying the they (the fans in the audience) know more about what he is doing then he did. I just thought that was a cute moment.
After the panel were autos or not? At first it sounded like the guards were going to just take them off stage but then a couple started signing. James to the far left of me asked the guard are we allowed to sign and he said it's up to you. So he started signing. I was trying to grab Emma and got her. *whee* I was stuck where I was so I just waited for people to come to me for a bit. I got Michelle, Charisma and Joss that way. Sarah was to the far far left of me signing.
ghostgirl13 left to try to make her way over there. I tried to just get air. And then I saw Seth signing. I tried to get to him but had no luck. I saw Sarah leaving and to the far right saw James talking to his publicist and Himber. Later one of our line mates said James had started to sign his thing but then the publicist told we have to go and he got up and talked to her and someone else for a bit before returning to signing. So maybe the publicist was trying to get him out of there and after talking James wanted to go down the stage signing before leaving. Or all three decided to do that. Either way he then proceeded to sign his way down the line very slowly. This is when we caught him.
ghostgirl13 got his auto and right when I got up he moved down left again. Luckily with both me and
ghostgirl13 yelling his name he came back to sign. He had recognized
ghostgirl13 when he saw her before I got up to the stage. When he was signing mine, he had his head down and someone else had their program over my head blocking me, so I yelled out thank you to James and he looked up and saw me and I got the recognition and hey nice to see you or something like that. I honestly don't remember. We were a bit brain dead by then.
ghostgirl13 told him we would see him in San Diego next weekend and he seemed pleased. We thanked him again and made our why out of the crowd to allow others a chance to get to him.
After that we were crowded out and just went to talk to our friends. There was the usually after event food at Denny's this time and then saying goodbye to everyone to see either next weekend or at Grand Slam and for our line mates to see them perhaps at next years Paley fest.
Overall a great time and worth the exhaustion. I didn't take too many shots cause again, shutter noise loud in the dome, but I'll post what I got in the evening or tomorrow. On a side note, I think James looked cute with his wild crazy curly hair. Oh and I overheard him telling someone it took over four hours a day for his Piccolo makeup.
