I think my jaw actually dropped when reading this.
Actor and director Mel Gibson has apologised for the anti-Semitic words he used during his arrest for drink-driving. Here is his full statement:

People actually gave a damn about what he had to say in the first place.
Now really. You don't know this man, you don't hang out with him, work with him, or even pass him on the street. If his face wasn't plastered all over movie posters and theatre screens, you wouldn't even be able to pick him out of a crowd. And yet you take anything he says seriously? As if it's a personal slight?
Okay America (and others who subscribe to pop culture), let's just do what we always do to people we think are stupid: Ignore them. Their words can't hurt unless we let them.
Remember: Any publicity is good publicity. The more we talk about this particular incident, the more we promote Mr. Gibson and tell him that what he has to say impacts our lives.
