A Night at the Movies...Take Two!

Jan 06, 2010 20:21

Last night we went to see 'Avatar'. We dashed over to the complex, bought our tickets (together with 3-D specs) and, with just enough time to spare, we grabbed something to eat. The movie started at 6pm...our meal arrived from the kitchen at 5.50. I don't think I have stuffed a fettucine carbonara down my throat SO fast. The cinema was packed. No, ( Read more... )

I too was unaware of the popularity of this film. I thought I was doing well getting to the Cinema 30 mins before screening only to find that the 3-D cinemas were full. We ended up seeing the 2-D version. It was a fantastic film and I can only imagine it in 3-D. I am planning to book and pay ahead to see it again in 3-D at the Robina I-max theatre which I have heard is fabulous.

I think that we will opt for a well planned booking at the Chermside complex. Everyone keeps telling me how good the special effects are that I want to see it in 3-D

What a pain! Avatar at the IMAX here is fully booked up about 2 weeks in advance and has been since release. Have heard mixed reviews ranging from 'ground-breaking' to 'Disney's Pocahontas on acid'. Going to try and get us tickets next week but you're right...this movie better be worth it.

It is an amazing movie and you have to see it in IMAX 3D to experience full special effects. The story is not specail. It is more like sci-fi version of "Dance with Wolves" by Kevin Coster 15 years ago. But there are some night time scenes would make anybody awed about how real and incredible everything looks like. Hope that you get to see it soon!

It is well worth going to. In 3D it is spectacular, my only bitch was the dirty pair of glasses I was given to use! Yes, icejohn2 has it spot on, the plot is very 'Dances with Wolves' but the visuals well and truly make up for the plot. It is spectacular, lucious and fantastically gorgeous! I must go back and see it in Imax 3D.
