Oh, I like this! Excellent idea, how the way they live, with the possibility of possesion and everything, could make it easy to misinterpret and misread each other, especially in a situation like this!
During that time Sam kept his hand on Dean's heart, counting out the beats and breathing in sync with his brother - rapid and shallow. It wasn't until the men pried him away that he realized that they were there, and learned that breathing in sync with someone with a chest wound was a bad idea when he found himself almost too dizzy to stand up.
Thanks for reading! I really wanted to write the boys interpeting the same thing differently, and I wanted to whump Dean, thus the story was born. Or something. Anyway, thanks again!
I'm glad it worked. The boys are always so in tune with each other that the only way I could think of for them to have such different views was with one of them suffering and confused. And, well, gratuituous Dean whump! Who could resist?
lol, fuckedupness.. man, that should totally be added to the Winchester's Dictionary.
I really liked seeing the differing points of view here. It's so interesting to see how simple things we say and do every day can be taken out of context.

Nice take on Dean being so far out of it, and the double POV worked well.
I especially liked the end, that hint of returning to a Winchester standard ratio of fuckedupness to okayness. Nicely done.

And it's probably a good idea for Sam to keep it all to himself. *g*
