Updates: DreamWidth, AO3, White Collar, Icons, and a Research Comm!

Hello, Dearly Beloved Flist!

DreamWidth
Come Friend Me on DW!

As most of you have noticed, LJ's gone screwy on us, and a lot of people are slowly migrating over to DW, including me.

I go by the same name of nyxelestia on DreamWidth. Add me if you're on there, or tell me your DW ID here and I'll friend you! My intention is to maintain a mirror between LJ and DW (though for now I'll stick to LJ as my primary account, seeing as most of my fandoms are still LJ-based). Whatever I post to one comm will be posted on the other comm. (Right now, as all the previous posts are imported, the fic masterlist on DW still links back to LJ, but I full intend to go back and fix the links - until then, bear with me!)

Archive Of Our Own
Here's Me on AO3!

I also plan to start moving all of my fics to AO3. Not many of my fics are there at the moment, but I will change that, a while though it may be.

White Collar
My Newest Addiction

I stumbled across White Collar about two weeks ago on Netflix, and BOOM I was hooked. Netflix will be the death of me... Any of you in the fandom? Got any recs? Wanna just say hi seeing as I don't have an anklet to track you with? I've already started writing fic for this fandom (already nearing 5000 words on my first fic idea alone, plus about half a dozen other stories brewing in the background), so if you're in WC fandom, keep an eye out. :)

Icons
Proverbial Digital Haircut

I've gone through a lot of life changes recently (RL, writing, fandom, ect), so I plan to get new icons, instead of just this one I always use everywhere. (I plan to stop using this one altogether eventually). Anyone know good places to get non-fandom icons?

A New Research Comm
WANTED: YOU!

A year ago, I registered backtothebooks, then completely forgot about it. Many a times I got interested in a subject for writing, only to be stumped when it came to research, having on idea where to start or what resource is reliable. Where little-details is for when there is too little information, backtothebooks is for when there is too much information. This is a place where both people can create and store posts full of links and recs on subjects they've researched already and where people can post to ask for good resources - or both.

But! I'm obviously going to need a lot of help for this. For one thing, I fully intend to try and maintain, if not a mirror, then at least a sister comm, on DreamWidth. For another, I want this comm to be as easy to search as possible so that future writers will have an easy time finding resources on subjects this comm already covers; that means extensive tagging, keeping careful and potentially nit-picking memories/favorites, and perhaps even creating a bookmarking profile to link the two comms together (thought at this point I can't even decide between Delicious, Diigo, or Pinboard). Not to mention of course just general running the comm.

So this is a mass call to anyone interested in helping build this comm, on LJ, DW, or anywhere else we may eventually expand to. Please, if you are willing to help, comment at the hiring post! Or even if you don't want to participate, but have some suggestions, thoughts, or requests you would like to share (i.e. any analyses on which bookmarking site to use, methods of tagging, community organization, ect ect), please do! Any and all input is much loved at this time.
