Heechul tossed bits of sand into the water, nearly stomping through the thick floors as his troubled friend called out.
"Aren't you taking this a bit personally?"
"Who. Says. I'm. Taking. This. Personally!" Heechul yelled as he kicked the sand.
Shindong pursed his lips, hands intertwined. "Just because of a little comment, you drove four hours to the closet beach to yell at a fictional character, most of it spent in traffic." He then pointed behind him at the lines of the cars that hadn't moved all the while. "Which we shall most likely return to if we don't leave now!"
"Oh, she exists." Heechul glared at the water, missing the second half of the argument. "And even she knows I'm better than her!"
"Yes, yes, Ariel knows this. Now let's go back home!" Shindong yelled.
"I can't, my pride is at stake. And until she admits it, I won't ever stop bothering her."
"This is the fifth week in a row we've been here." Shindong nearly whined, exasperated. "Are you really going to do this again?"
"We must. The princess is all self-absorbed about her looks, assuming she's superior and mistakenly believes she's better than the rest of people around her. How can she live with herself?"
"I sometimes wonder that too." Shindong muttered. "You are aware that fighting with a mermaid gets you nowhere."
Heechul narrowed his eyes dangerously, Shindong thinned his lips and slowly backed away. Heechul paced in circles as the late evening began to fall against them, and he smirked triumphantly.
"See, she's too afraid to admit I'm better. She doesn't have the nerve to show up."
"Or she could possibly just not exist." Shindong murmured to himself. "But that could just be one possibility."
Heechul's red hair beamed beneath the little sunlight that fell, smiling as Shindong left him there, rooted to the spot with overflowing confidence. He decided to take home victory for the day when he turned his head and was struck with a handful of sand against his back.
"Graceful," He yelled to the ocean, brushing it off. "Finally decided to admit I was right all along?"
"As if you're the judge to determine which way is right or wrong." A voice called out, rising from the blue waters as it parted revealed a head full of red hair.
"I'm me, that's enough to determine anything." Heechul claimed, arms crossed over his arm. At her glower he smiled, his own red hair beamed beneath the sunlight and he proudly showcased it by prancing through the beach almost daily.
Ariel then rose from the water, holding out a hand.
Heechul arched an eyebrow at the apple. "What am I supposed to do with that? I already fed my driver."
"It's a truce." Ariel said simply.
"Oh, how nice-Hey wait." Heechul glowered. The mermaid smiled sweetly when she abruptly dived into the water, Heechul threw the apple when Shindong returned to his side.
"What are you doing now?"
"I almost accepted the poisoned apple from her, diabolical." Heechul said in almost awe. "The others must have seen me... Seems beauty can't handle competition." Shindong arched an eyebrow, almost sure he mixed up the fairytale but decided not to say anything.
"Let's just go before I decide to eat the poison apple myself and end this misery."
Heechul smirked as he returned to the passenger seat, humming to himself and exclaiming in victory. "I won!"
Shindong glanced at the miles of cars in front and behind him, and figured there was no winning anywhere today.
