My resolution last year was to learn more than I did in the previous year. I'm not sure if I accomplished that, but I am sure that what I learned was of greater value. My resolution this year is to carry that further: I want to learn less, but have the few things I learn be very, very important. (Better attention management is at the top of that

YES! Great resolution! Quality over quantity...because the quantity out there is nearly unmanageable. Too many words, too much bad info running around out there. Filtering. I hope 2009 can be about filtering for me, too.

Yeah, I've actually considered nuking my RSS feeds purely on principle. But then I feel a twinge and think "No! Sometimes they throw up useful and inspiring information!" and then I feel all confused. I think, though, I may have stumbled upon a way to have my cake and eat it too: it's not just about filtering (which I'm actually moderately good at already), but also about making rapid-fire decisions about what to do with some incoming piece of info (which I've been considerably less good at). Having a system that doesn't permit things to pile up on you makes a big difference. More to come about this . . .
