Belatedly, I want to point out that soulchanger made roughly the election post I'd have made if I hadn't been hiding under a rock waiting for the collective madness to blow over. I endorse nearly the whole thing, but I'm lifting the really choice bit because it deserves to be read:

In theory, the signaling is supposed to take place after conversation about the candidates and the issues. I realize that with the current abrasive atmosphere of social discourse, this is harder than anyone would like.

I'm willing to endure any costs of admission for voting in a modern constitutional Republic, until something better comes along.
