Fandom, I haven't forgotten you!

Aug 06, 2009 22:01

I realize I've been caught up in personal post after personal post lately. And although I do like making my personal posts (and sometimes feel that I need to), I also like my fandom. I haven't been neglecting you on purpose fandom, I promise!

So, what is everyone watching and/or fandoming these days?

Well, as for me... )

himym, writing, harry potter, books, castle, bsg, dollhouse, bones

I actually came home from seeing Half Blood Prince and immediately picked up the book and read right through Deathly Hallows. It'd been the first time I'd read DH since it came out and it was SO awesome to read it again.

Outta curiosity, are you strictly SGA or did you watch SG1 too?

I haven't read Deathly Hallows since the first time either. I'm really looking forward to it once I get there. I'm sure I could start at book 6, or heck, even just at the last one and not forget anything. But I kind of want the whole experience all over again. :)

I watched SG-1 too. I actually watched it before I ever checked out SGA, and I was adamant that I wasn't going to watch SGA because there was no way it could be better than SG-1. Except then I did watch, and well... I was wrong. Lol. I've yet to actually finish with the last season of Atlantis, because parts of it were pissing me off so much. But up to season 4 was awesome and I fangirled like crazy. :)

Out of curiosity, who (if anyone) did you ship for SGA?

See, I wanted to go back to the very beginning, but after HPB, I think I just needed to finish the story again. :) I'm gonna make a marathon of it though. Hopefully soon. :D I need the experience again too.

LOL! Just checking. I must admit I felt the same about SGU, but I'm still gonna give Darth Mallozzi it a chance. (Why I have no idea.) I actually started not liking SGA after season 3, but that's all politics.

Erm, I'm something of a Sparky shipper, I think, and some rare pairings, but I'd say Sparky's probably my first and foremost. :)

I did think about actually just rereading the 7th book, because I can be antsty like that. :)

I might watch SGU, but who knows. I don't have a burning urge. I probably will give it a chance, just cuz. But I'm not terribly excited.

Sparky is Shep/Weir, right? I must say, I never got into that pairing. I'm sorry, but I was John/Teyla all the way. *g* But don't worry, you're far from being the only person on my flist who ships them. I hate it when people get into shipper wars, it just seems so stupid to me. :)

Fandom is strange. I am following a lot of tv shows (too much so that I want to parent myself and ground myself from the tv), BUT I cannot genuinely say that I am fanning any series to the point that I read fanfic and search for LJ comms for them. Still not at that point yet for me that I was with BSG. (Who knew, criminally long hiatus is good for fandom-ing).

If you want to know what people are following, there's a fave character meme going around that yu can put up. Its great to know who in your f-list is also watching something that you've never posted about before.. Mine's still up, with a few shows still unguessed and I have a feeling that only you in my flist know one (or maybe two) of these shows!

Yeah, that's the same with me. I'm following and/or are up to date on a lot of shows, but I'm not obsessed with any. Dollhouse is probably the closest to that, but even then I'm not actively searching out comms and reading fic. I'll maybe read a short one now or then if someone on my flist posts, but that's about it.

The favorite character meme sounds cool. I'll have to check it out. :)

Hey girl! I totally hear you on the posting of personal stuff. Seems of late I only post about my issues and neglect my fangirl-ness.

So shows I'm watching and fandoms I'm a part of:

-Law & Order UK
-Defying Gravity
-Dollhouse
-Twilight
-Stargate (looking forward to the new series so much)
-The Big Bang Theory
-True Blood

And I'm just starting to watch Sanctuary for the first time. I have no idea if I like it or not yet. I literally only saw the first 10 minutes yesterday.

I feel bad, because sometimes I forget how much fun the fandom stuff is!

I'm with you on Dollhouse and The Big Bang Theory, and maybe a bit of Twilight. I did read that whole series, and even wrote a little one shot (I think...) but for me it was a shorter obsession. I read, I liked, I obsessed... I finished. Lol. Of course I'll still be seeing the movie when it comes out though. :D

I'm not sure about the new Stargate show though. I'll probably check it out, just because I've seen basically everything else in that whole SG-1/SGA fandom. But I'm not sure I'm going to get hooked. It actually kind of sounds like a BSG rip off to me... But then, I say that, and I very well might start fangirling it like crazy. Lol.

I saw a very little bit of Sanctuary when it first came out (maybe 10 or 20 minutes). It was okay, but I never really got into it. Though I do know lots of people who love it. :)

I'm HP all the time! nebakanezer August 7 2009, 15:31:14 UTC
Right after HBP I listened to the audio version then started back at the beginning. I'm up to chapter 8 of Goblet of Fire now. I'm having so much fun listening to them at work. I haven't read them since they all first came out so it's fun to be reminded of all the details that weren't in the movies and that I've forgotten.

I'm actually even working on a fic. Never written HPverse, it's tough! lol

As for tv, things are ending now that I was enjoying; Burn Notice, In Plain Sight. Leverage is AWESOME and Eureka is too! And I've been watching movies too.

Wow, you're flying through them! That's awesome that you can listen while you're at work, it must make the day go by so quickly. I wish I could do that when I'm working in our storage area with equipment maintenance type stuff. We have a radio over there, but no ipod playing capabilities. :(

Yay for fic! I was nervous when I posted my first HP fic on lj. (Well, it wasn't actually my first HP fic ever, but the first one in years) But it was a lot of fun to write. I always like the challenge of writing new characters. :)

I think I only watched that one episode of Leverage when I was at your place. Lol. It was pretty good actually. What's In Plain Sight about? I don't think I've heard of it...

Yay Dollhouse! I just got the special features DVD and watched the unaired pilot and Epitaph One. The original pilot was very interesting and very different, but Epitaph One blew my mind. It was totally trippy and amazing :)

Also - Yay Castle :) I am such a Nathan Fillion fangirl :P

I've heard a lot of people say that Epitaph One was amazing. I can't wait to watch it. :)

Nathan is awesome. Period. *g*
