I'm still here

I've been MIA for a bit while life has been getting in the way of my internet playtime.  Specifically, I've been spending most of my free time walking, swimming laps, working out with weights, planning healthy meals, and calorie counting.  So...16 weeks into The Great Lifestyle Change of 2013, and today my bathroom scale told a story I haven't ( Read more... )

Thanks! Losing weight is time-consuming and horrifically expensive (Why does healthy food like fresh produce cost so much more than processed, high-calorie, nutritionally bereft junk???) but definitely worth it.

You'll not likely hear anyone, at the end of his life, say, "Gee, I wish I'd spent more time on the internet rather than walking, swimming and taking care of myself."

You've done a great thing, my friend. More people should follow your example. And yeah, all that healthy living does consume a considerable amount of time but it's time well spent.

You've got a point!

When my father's brother died, his one regret was that he hadn't read more books. Since I usually have three going at once (one at work to read for the few remaining minutes of my lunch hour after I've taken my walk, one for the pool to read while I'm lying in the sun to dry off after my laps, and one for home to fall asleep reading at bedtime) I don't think I'll have that problem, either.

My regrets will be that I didn't try harder to save our floundering marriage, that I didn't set aside more time to write, and most of all, that I didn't get more education. I wante to go for an MFA with a writing emphasis, but let everyone convince me that it wasn't practical. So here I am with a Business degree which is the next best thing to useless....
