I followed the link in the comm, and thank you for making me laugh - the festival sounded like a kick ass event, and it *is super impressive* that Miike showed up. Man, Shun's like every important director's darling as of late, isn't he?

I also laughed way inappropriately re: the Masami remark. I thought I was the only one who finds her cutesiness grating - I think it's the hamhanded way she goes about projecting, "OHO, LOOK AT ME, I'M SO CUTE! AND JAPAN LOVES ME!" and her voice that do the most damage though. Because, you know, aside from that, she's not that terrible of an actress.

But thank you for sharing this report - you're so lucky that you were able to attend. :)

Yeah, especially since I imagine Miike must be pretty busy with Yatterman at the moment. For him to make the time to come to the festival was really impressive.

I actually liked Nagasawa a lot in Last Friends this week, and she looked pretty cool in the trailer for Kakushi Toride no San Akunin...but in this movie she was trying way too hard. Very, "Tee hee, I'm adorable and I totally know it!" Nobody should have to deal with that much put-on cuteness at four AM! D:
