Prometheus (SG1 episode)

Just re-watched Prometheus, the episode where Simmons, with Adrian Conrad's goa'uld in tow, bites the big one by being blown out space. I can't help but wonder, how far does goa'uld healing go anyway? Can it keep rehealing the host despite explosive decompression?

Hmm... That would be unpleasant!

stargate: sg1, via ljapp, rewatch, random thoughts

Oh, ick! I guess I always assumed the goa'uld would explode/implode (??) the same as the host. But if not... *shivers*

Yeah, you might be right. But if the problem started from the outside in, and the goa'uld could heal fast enough... yikes! I was going to say, hm, perhaps this is a fitting end for the very annoying simmons, but yeah... I really wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Well, thanks to Jack's last run in with Hathor, we do know that the Goa'uld do not handle freezing cold at all well, and that faced with penetrating cold in the host, they attempt to escape.

Either way, yuckkkk!!!

It is not a good way for anything to go.

Oh, good point! Although I was reading about explosive decompression (after I had this delightful thought...) and someone pointed out that without air, it's harder to transfer heat away from the body. So, it would still radiate in the infrared, and lose heat, but there's less direct interaction with colder moving air molecules to transfer energy - i.e. in some ways it wouldn't feel quite as cold to the person. Hm. Ok, I've really over thought this now *g*

Plus, not sure how the obvious lack of escape of any kind might affect the symbiote's choice as to whether to leave the host or not. Maybe they instinctively would, though, when things go wrong.

And yeah, I agree... yuck, lol! :)
