I've been in a bit of a bleh mood lately. But tonight, I am going to the opera, and that should take all my cares away.

Hurrah!

I saw Hänsel und Gretel as presented by Jeunesses Musicales Canada (Musical Youth Canada.) It was marvelous! I'd never seen an opera before, and the whole thing was in German, but before each act the francophone pianist explained the plot (often with hilarious results). I'd love to go again sometime-- it was just wonderful!

(And of course, as always seems to happen when I go to see a grand musical production, I came out of the theatre saying, "I should write one of those!" But thinking back on it, I don't think that I could quite manage.)

I've seen a few myself but the one that *really* stuck with me was Shakespere's "A midsummer Night's Dream".

Puck was the only one who's lines were in English. And he talked, not sung. And it was awesome. And there was this part with Oberon and Puck where I was just like SLASHSLASHSLASHSLASH!

^.^ I know sad.

I always get that feeling. That "I should write one of those" but I always remind myself that I either don't have the time or wouldn't be able to have a good follow through. ::shruggs:: oh well.

We've just read A Midsummer Night's Dream for school and the professor was showing us the BBC television version of yesterday. There was one part that was so incredibly Puck/Oberon SLASHSLASHSLASHSLASH that I had to bite my lip to keep myself from saying anything. It wasn't opera, but who needs singing when you have slash?

I have neither the time nor the follow-through ability to write anything long or anything musical, but there is now the idea of SLASH OPERA going on in my head. And I don't think that it's going to go away anytime soon. *ponders*

Mmmmm. Slash opera. I think that there must actually be some somewhere.
