Since Cricket made your list I can only hope you're familiar with The Story of Harold -- which definitely would have made my list except I haven't reread it that many times, despite how delightful it is.

I had never heard of that before. Thanks for the interesting article and its analysis. I also didn't know that much about George Selden AKA George Selden Thompson other than he had written several more books in the story of Chester. The book made my list because it was an early indication (to a young brain at least) of the power of opera. :)

Thanks for the recommendation--I'll put it on the list of books next time I go a-huntin'.
