EAT ALL THE FOOD

I have many many foods in all kinds of categories that, if I have in my flat, I will eat the lot. Dealing with this causes inconvenience or extra expense: either I buy/make a pack of food that should last for a few days and eat it all in one go, or I go to a cafe/restaurant to pay for a small portion of the food (more expensive). Do you have a freezer? You can apparently freeze butter, so maybe it would help to cut it into reasonably small slices and freeze them wrapped in greaseproof paper, so there is only a small amount available to eat on impulse.

I tried that, it didn't stop me eating butter to excess. I also have a microwave with a defrost setting, this means that frozen food is generally easy to access. I'm quite confident that I will have a better relationship with butter after my recent experiments.

Sounds like you need to slowly have the freedom to expose yourself to each food. If you eat it to excess and you just let yourself get used to the idea that it's there, it's not a scarcity, then it becomes less and less important.

I'm about 18 months into trying to live like that and it's going really well. I lived with food scarcity for a long period when I was a kid. Knowing I can EAT THE WORLD!!! has slowly helped me learn about hunger and saiety. I can leave food once I'm full. I can have cravings without having to have the food right there and then. It's just taken a lot of time and patience.
