As per bloody usual I was asked how best to treat me.
On the other hand you're the one that's ill and you know what symptoms bother you the most and you know what has/hasn't helped in the past, which puts you in a good place to make suggestions for starting points.
Maybe, when you're feeling up to it, you could write a comprehensive list of medications you've tried and your reactions to them and the talking therapies you've tried and if/how they helped? Then ask your GP to put that on your notes so that it's there for when you're not able to talk about it.
Hope you get an early appointment with your psychiatrist and whatever treatment you need soon.
No medication or talking therapy has helped me with my depression as yet (though my current medication is stopping me from getting 'high'). I only remember a few of the medications I've been on, because for most of the time that I've been on psych meds I was severely unwell and in hospital or living in the community whilst off my rocker...
so it is pretty difficult to know what will help. Getting a copy of my medical records is a possibility but it comes with potential downsides.
Right, well that's one thing you know - whatever you're on now is stopping you getting too 'high' (I presume this is a good thing).
You sounded fairly satisfied with your post-adoption counsellor. [I may well be misunderstanding here: I think counselling = a talking therapy and I thought the adoption was related in some way to your depression].
The depression came first then the adoption happened (to cut a long story short), but I was in a cycle of depression/mania. The adoption was causing unhappiness but not necessarily depression. Complex things. I was really happy with the counselling at the post-adoption centre, but it wasn't designed to deal with my mental health as a whole (that's why I wasn't really counting it when I said that nothing had helped).

1) That is a bloody fluffing stupid question for a medical professional to ask.
2) Yay for everything else.

Also, mr_lovelace and i are terribly envious of your ability to trundle around central London the way you do - it sounds lovely!
