Permissions? Where do I look to see about that?
How do I know if the disk is full or not?

Ah, that's good to know. I'm glad me or mine hasn't done something stupid to it! I'm using Opera instead for now.

I don't know anything about ubuntu, but in windows Firefox does an automatic bookmark back up so you can get them back. Sounds like it's cleared all your private data, no way to get that back as far as I know.
