Bloody extreme credit (who I have a pre-paid debit card with) won't accept statutory declaration for name change. They demand deed poll. Now, as far as I'm aware, under the Data Protection Act they have to use correct information about me, and a statutory declaration is good enough for a name change. Hopefully people in head office are talking about statutory declarations right now.

No bank or building society will trust me with either a debit card or a cheque book. It is possible to go overdrawn with a debit card sometimes. You pay for something with the d card and the money doesn't get taken out of your account immediately, you take all the money out of your account, the debit goes through and you're overdrawn.

The prepaid debit card I have I had to pay 8.95 for, and each time I put money on it (usually at the Post Office) I get charged 70p. It still saves me money when I buy things like train tickets online.
