I have none. I think this needs to be on the front page of the NY Times, though. I think the media has to start really breaking free first, otherwise we'll just keep sinking.

I know I'll keep sinking.

that's very true, and of course the media is now mostly owned by huge corporate conglomerates and everybody is a subsidiary of everyone else... the new york times covered the memo that was recently revealed about the plane painting this. i don't know where it was put in the paper cause i read it online. but my brother had to tell me about it. i didn't hear a lick of it for days around here. wtf, really.

Tom and Katie what!?

No, in all seriousness... I agree. We're either apathetic, or people agree. That was my biggest opposition whenever I try to get folks riled up about something.

"This is awful! No Child Left Behind--"

"--is wonderful."

"Cutting funding for schools that aren't doing well, when they clearly need help the most? That's good?"

"It'll make them try harder."

It's like the flipping Twilight Zone. Are we just THAT dumb?

I think you forgot the part where a senior Homeland Security Advisor has been arrested for soliciting sex from a minor. Ew ( ... )

you know why i forgot that part? I DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT IT. christ. am i blanking? what happened?

thank you, it is inspiring to think of countries where the young people are actually engaged.

we do indeed have it good, but a lot of the reason why we have it good is because we're using third world countries like resources, like fuel to burn for our economy... but i still appreciate deeply having a roof over my head, reliable plumbing, and insane amounts of food everyfrickingwhere. now if everyone in america had all those things i'd be happier.

i appreciate how much you reply when i ranty-mc-rants-a-lot on these topics. XD

Unfortunately, you're right. Too many people are content to sit around and let things happen to them. Too many people are apathetic to the world as it turns and keeps moving forward while individuals just keep doing their own thing with the whole mentality of "it doesn't affect me, so it doesn't matter."

There are some people that are largely ignorant of what's going on around them for various reasons, some because of something as innocuous as naïvety all the way to just plain apathy. Those things and everything in between are easily fixable. Hopefully, people will stop turning a blind eye to what's going on in this country and make the effort to fix things. I don't want to see us turn into a raging mob to do it either.

Of course, I'm also stuck in the whole "I need to get my life straight" thing, so I can understand that too.

i think it's up to us to get our lives into shape as fast as possible so we'll be able to work harder on getting the country into shape.

Your journal entries always inspire me, especially with the Cho Revolution icon. XD

Recently though my wars on such matters have been church politics. The church I've been going to sense I was a child is in immediate threat of being closed down. Why? Because over the years the neighborhood around it has changed. What used to be mostly white is now a mix of Hispanic and African-Americans.

And while we don't have many of the African-Americans attend, we do have a seperate Hispanic congrigation. But because of this, we can't get funding from our own Methodist Conference to fund us to keep our doors open.

They will give us 10 Million... and yes... I did say MILLION dollars if we will merge with three other churches in our district, who like us are facing the same problem. Their areas have changed to black and hispanic. But if we take these three white churches and move out somewhere in white suburbia, they will give us money to build a brand new church. But won't give us money to pay our heating and electric bill. So that we can stay ( ... )

that is disgusting. so they won't fund your church cause it's no longer in a white part of town. i can only imagine how infuriated you are in dealing with this. who is it in charge of the funding who is making these racist decisions?

CHO REVOLUTION!!!
