Just in case anyone is interested - I've been trying to persuade a friend to apply, but he enjoys his current job too much ("you only have that job until your next election!" I tell him, but to no avail). Will be happy to give feedback to anyone interested.

once got the job application for Governor General of the Falkland Islands (surprisingly easy, I was way over-qualified). You got four free tips on Air-RAF to Brise-Norton Airport per year, a free residence and a Rangerover; they asked for an interest in wildfowl, but oddly enough, an ability to speak Spanish was not requisite.

I was actually turned down for a job once by someone who did later become Governor of the Falklands! (He's now the British Ambassador in Venezuela. I think he does speak Spanish.)
