I adored Harrow the Ninth, but the book’s plot requires you to have read the prequel, Gideon the Ninth, immediately before. I imagine that this limitation, along with the extremely convoluted plot, will turn off most Hugo voters who aren’t already fans of the series.

I adore this too, and I wish it was the Audible version up for the Hugo; it is brilliant.

I read a review after listening through the first time which gave me a spoiler that made my second time through a very different experience. I am desperate for the next book.

Gideon the Ninth was great, and I nominated it for the Hugo, but the structure of Harrow takes my breath away. I haven't read Piranesi yet, and it is the only book that might take first place away from Harrow, for me.
