"Arena" a close second and the eventual winner, "

Is that meant to be “City”, etc.?

Thanks for the analysis.

Maybe an extra comma needed: "Arena" a close second, and the eventual winner, "City" third"

As someone noted, the Cthulu 'series' is stated as being 'The Cthulhu Mythos, by H.P. Lovecraft, August Derleth, and others'. This means that anyone who has published a story within the Cthulhu mythos, or arguably anyone who has yet to do so but does so in the future shares in this Retro Hugo.
This seems to me to be unlike the AO3 Hugo which seems to me to have been for the site not the works thereon.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who was writing in the Cthulhu mythos before 1945 has every right to call themselves a joint winner.
