I'm a bit disappointed by your choice for Scotland. Here in Scotland, we usually classify Macbeth as a play, rather than a book. I know you can buy a chippy of the script in book form, but it's not *really* the same thing.

You'd prefer Diana Gabaldon's Outlander?

Basically I went for the best known work in English set in each country which has been published in book form. There are a few similar cases (Czech Republic, for instance) but I feel comfortable with my methodology.

I love the list but surely Don Quixote is the most famous book set in Spain.

If you click through you'll see this was discussed. nwhyte had a methodology, and the results are what they are. Personally I like that the results sometimes weren't the obvious; it suggests a book that might be worth taking a look at.

(or one that's popular, but not necessarily my thing, like Outlander)
