What are the best known books set on the Channel Islands and Isle of Man? (And Gibraltar?)

See note on methodology

Since I started this series with the component parts of the United Kingdom, I guess I should also note those books set in dependent British territories (and Francis specifically asked about the Isle of Man). A later post will cover the Faroe and Åland Islands.

BBC Radio mystery set in Channel Is ext_5483831 August 8 2020, 20:37:58 UTC
There were two or three wonderful Afternoon Plays, murder mysteries
set in the Channel Islands.

Part-time police investigator has to solve murders.
Can't remember author, title or even island, sorry.
Character might have been named Alain.

What I do remember is the striking amount of nudity (for a radio play).
Long, cozy, loving chat with wife in the bathtub.

Maybe some of you remember the plays.
Meanwhile, I'll search the medicine cabinet for
the sodium pentathol.
