An interesting and well-observed novel about the dislocations of a household caught up in both the 1986 Gorkhaland demonstrations in West Bengal, and the effects of India's relationship over the decades with both Britain and the US (or, more specifically, Cambridge University and the catering industry in New York). This time I agree with you - interesting enough, but I skimmed over the last 30 - 40 pages. My verdict: a lot of very picturesque descriptions - no solutions or hope of change - depressing.

I thought this one was a bit of a mess: meandered around and didn't seem sure of its purpose. Some pretty passages.
