This is the ninth volume in the Foglios' Girl Genius saga, originally published online, but now available as part of the Hugo Voters' Packet; it's not a series I know other than having read Volume Eight last year when it too was up for the Hugos. I think that Girl Genius is one of the main reasons for the fact the steam punk genre is currently much in fashion. As a series that has been going for a number of years now, it has developed quite a depth of texture, though it's educational to see just how much was there from the start.

I was not surprised at last year's debut win - it probably included a certain amount of support for the existing body of work, rather than just being for that particular volume, and you may well be right to expect support to fall off a bit this time.
