2009 was a quiet year: Oxford, Bo'ness* (nr Edinburgh), Puycelsi (nr Toulouse), Leiden. But I did only spend 11 nights at home in August.

Four flights - Heathrow-Toulouse, Gatwick-Schiphol.

Next year's going to be more exciting, as there are conventions in it.

Leiden is a nice town, though we've actually been there only once: for a friend's PhD defence.

Oddly enough, he and his wife stayed the night before last with us, due to the snow causing the magic train juice to leak out of the last Cambridge/KingsX train of the evening.

It's Oxford's twin town (hence the visit, which was Official) and - apart from more canals and fewer hills - it's a surprising amount like Oxford. In a parallel universe Oxford still looks like that, I'm quite sure.
