An Earthly Child - spoilers

I feel a bit mean posting this, because the other reviews I've seen so far of An Earthly Child are rather positive (without spoilers here and with spoilers here). I think Marc Platt's scripts are a bit like Marmite - you love 'em or hate 'em. However, to explain why I didn't like it requires a cut-tag and spoiler warning, thus:

I haven't heard it myself yet, but these sound like very reasonable grounds for disliking it. I'd much rather imagine Susan after her decision to stay behind on Earth as a competent and capable figure who has really grown into her Time Lordliness, and it doesn't sound much like that's what I'll get from this story.

As for Jake McGann, to be honest I thought he was rubbish as Ganymede in Immortal Beloved for much the same reasons as you describe here. Obviously he's young and still developing as an actor - but I can't help but feel that he's being given more roles than he really deserves at the moment because of who his father is.
