Some time ago I watched the Doctor Who spinoff video Downtime, written by Marc Platt and directed by Christopher Barry, which unites the Brigadier, Sarah Jane Smith, Victoria Waterfield and the Yeti. I also MUCH preferred the novelisation to the video. The video is just badly structured - if I hadn't read the book first, I'd have had no real clue what was going on half the time.

I can cope with odd ideas about how to structure the narrative (cf Warriors Gate and Platt's own Ghost Light); the real problems with the video are a) it looks cheap and b) it has Peter Silverleaf in it (the guy in the pullover who can't act).

Oh I've no problem with unconventional structuring - except when it means the story doesn't make sense because they've done a poor job of linking things together. Which is what 'Downtime' seems to suffer from.
