This is a graphic novel based on a series of books by Jim Butcher which had a TV show as well; but it was all new to me, and I only got it because it is on the Hugo shortlist

Ah, darn, I did so hope it would nudge its way into your top spot. I want to go around casually mentioning my Hugo-award-winning, New York Times Bestselling artist, Ardian Syaf. :) Glad you liked it, though!

As far as I can tell from Amazon (and it is not easy), the Serenity book is way ahead of the others (two of which are not even out in dead tree format yet) so I expect it will win more comfortably than perhaps it deserves, with this in a strong second place.

I saw and loved the TV series when it came out, and finally got round to reading one of the books recently. It's flawed, but overall I loved it.
