As someone who has had 3 root canals, I have but one piece of advice. Relax. They are not as bad as people say they are.

I can confirm this with the caveat that there's no pain as long as the local anesthetic is properly dosed.

My uncle claimed that his reaction after his vasectomy was "can you take away the pain but leave the swelling". Strange chap.

I've had 3 sadly. One due to a broken tooth, another to poor dentistry and a 3rd to a 20 year old rugby injury.

The first 2 were done after I'd experienced the worst pain of my life. Thankfully I was in the US where Vicodin is the dentists drug of choice. Mmmm.... warm fluffy pain free goodiness. I still have 20 sitting unused in the kitchen cupboard incase of emergencies.

Generally speaking I've always gone to the same specialist in the US since my UK dentist botched on.
