This sounds familiar as well. Zane's class had 57 kids. The math and science teachers have all of them for 2 years; the humanities teachers have half the kids (for social studies and english) and may get to know the others through electives. Plus many of the kids have been at the school for 9 years. It's a close-knit group, a strong sense of community. So yeah, lots of inside jokes, lots of humor, genuine sense of *caring* for everyone. Loved it.

The kids vote on their recessional music, and some Pokemon theme song (movie? tv show?) was heavily lobbied for and won, so the math teacher made his speech completely tie into Pokemon before any of us in the audience knew why it was even relevant.

I'm so going to miss this school when Toby moves on.

That's awesome! Does Zane's school go through 12th, or does he have to change?

I really think middle school has changed a lot. The MS teacher I've met are all... people who really want to be working there, and who seem to approach the job with humour and a genuine LIKING of middle school kids. I dunno. It felt that way, btw, in both the private schools, but also the teachers I've met from our local middle school, that Linnea will probably attend.

I love the Pokemon music, that's great!

Thanks for the congrats, and same to Zane! :)

no, it's just K-8. Sniff. But Zane did get in at the desirable alternative public high school (not the monster big traditional high school Caleb is at). Each entering class is about 125 kids. For the first time ever, I'll have kids at 3 different schools next year! (so i'll better be able to empathize with what you deal with, except these three are all within 2 miles of our house, so i can't empathize with the commuting part!)

Thanks! I thought he was pretty cute, if a bit red from his basketball game right before! :P
