I'm glad to see this back-- I missed it the first time around, though I was in time for thee Hillbilly Remix and loved that whole concept to blazes.

I had kind of hoped to see the exchange at both LJ and AO3, I'll admit. But Yuletide is AO3-only now in terms of signups, with extensive communication at LJ. So that works too. :)

Well, sign ups at both sites would be a logistical nightmare for matching. Posting and discussion will be open and encouraged at the community, though. I've decided not to force authors to post their work at both sites, seeing as the reason for the move to the archive was to appeal to authors who don't have/don't want an LJ account. I expect there will be a learning curve, as there was last year. But, as we're a relatively small and reasonable fandom, I think it's going to work out just fine!

Oh-- I looked at the sign-up sheet and didn't see a minimum word-count.

The minimum word count is found in the rules:

"Basic Rules of the Exchange

1) Sign up for the exchange by filling out the sign up form on AO3.
2) Receive your assignment via email.
3) Write a complete (no first chapters of long fics or WIPs) 1,000 word (minimum) fic from the information given to you in your assignment.
4) Have someone beta read your fic.
5) Submit your fic to the AO3 before the deadline.
6) Once the fics are revealed, comment on your gift fic and THANK YOUR AUTHOR.
7) Give comment love to as many authors as you can. Bask in general squee and excitement."
