Well, I always thought it was because you two shared a lot of the same morals and ideals.

A few, but it's odd. How come in the fic she's always watching out for me while in TDR, it's the other way around?

Well, in the fic...she just wants to beat the everliving crap out of you for acting tactlessly with Nero and Sanctus, whereas in TDR, people like Crane and our many Jokers are pinging parts of her past that she wants buried, so you're taking initiatve to make sure nothing else happens.

Plus, in the fic, she's around Nero a lot more than you.
